The "shopping cart" icon, the underlined blue links mimicking a reference in a text, the overall attempt to make the website feel like a series of linked pages in a book—all of these were necessary bridges to help users understand this new and unfamiliar environment. This is why taking notes by hand on a chart is so much more effective for learning and commitment than typing them verbatim into a digital device. The responsibility is always on the designer to make things clear, intuitive, and respectful of the user’s cognitive and emotional state. The low price tag on a piece of clothing is often a direct result of poverty-level wages, unsafe working conditions, and the suppression of workers' rights in a distant factory. I wanted to work on posters, on magazines, on beautiful typography and evocative imagery.
