It’s the process of taking that fragile seed and nurturing it, testing it, and iterating on it until it grows into something strong and robust. Looking back now, my initial vision of design seems so simplistic, so focused on the surface. It returns zero results for a reasonable query, it surfaces completely irrelevant products, it feels like arguing with a stubborn and unintelligent machine. Whether charting the subtle dance of light and shadow on a canvas, the core principles that guide a human life, the cultural aspirations of a global corporation, or the strategic fit between a product and its market, the fundamental purpose remains the same: to create a map of what matters. Building a quick, rough model of an app interface out of paper cutouts, or a physical product out of cardboard and tape, is not about presenting a finished concept. Whether we are sketching in the margins of a notebook or painting on a grand canvas, drawing allows us to tap into our innermost selves and connect with the world around us in meaningful and profound ways.
