I think when I first enrolled in design school, that’s what I secretly believed, and it terrified me. In an academic setting, critiques can be nerve-wracking, but in a professional environment, feedback is constant, and it comes from all directions—from creative directors, project managers, developers, and clients. Having to design a beautiful and functional website for a small non-profit with almost no budget forces you to be clever, to prioritize features ruthlessly, and to come up with solutions you would never have considered if you had unlimited resources. The dream project was the one with no rules, no budget limitations, no client telling me what to do. It’s about cultivating a mindset of curiosity rather than defensiveness.
