Spy Chart History
Spy Chart History. It reveals a nation in the midst of a dramatic transition, a world where a farmer could, for the first time, purchase the same manufactured goods as a city dweller, a world where the boundaries of the local community were being radically expanded by a book that arrived in the mail. Our consumer culture, once shaped by these shared artifacts, has become atomized and fragmented into millions of individual bubbles. The typography was not just a block of Lorem Ipsum set in a default font. It is the difficult, necessary, and ongoing work of being a conscious and responsible citizen in a world where the true costs are so often, and so deliberately, hidden from view.

Looking back now, my initial vision of design seems so simplistic, so focused on the surface. To understand the transition, we must examine an ephemeral and now almost alien artifact: a digital sample, a screenshot of a product page from an e-commerce website circa 1999. I spent weeks sketching, refining, and digitizing, agonizing over every curve and point.
