Up until that point, my design process, if I could even call it that, was a chaotic and intuitive dance with the blank page. Furthermore, this hyper-personalization has led to a loss of shared cultural experience. Its logic is entirely personal, its curation entirely algorithmic. The most effective modern workflow often involves a hybrid approach, strategically integrating the strengths of both digital tools and the printable chart. The real cost catalog, I have come to realize, is an impossible and perhaps even terrifying document, one that no company would ever willingly print, and one that we, as consumers, may not have the courage to read. One of the first and simplest methods we learned was mind mapping.
