The goal isn't just to make things pretty; it's to make things work better, to make them clearer, easier, and more meaningful for people. This single component, the cost of labor, is a universe of social and ethical complexity in itself, a story of livelihoods, of skill, of exploitation, and of the vast disparities in economic power across the globe.
