Handbell Note Chart

It aims to align a large and diverse group of individuals toward a common purpose and a shared set of behavioral norms. The chart itself held no inherent intelligence, no argument, no soul. It is the invisible ink of history, the muscle memory of culture, the ingrained habits of the psyche, and the ancestral DNA of art. I had to create specific rules for the size, weight, and color of an H1 headline, an H2, an H3, body paragraphs, block quotes, and captions. A "feelings chart" or "feelings thermometer" is an invaluable tool, especially for children, in developing emotional intelligence. For showing how the composition of a whole has changed over time—for example, the market share of different music formats from vinyl to streaming—a standard stacked bar chart can work, but a streamgraph, with its flowing, organic shapes, can often tell the story in a more beautiful and compelling way.
