Files must be provided in high resolution, typically 300 DPI. It must mediate between the volume-based measurements common in North America (cups, teaspoons, tablespoons, fluid ounces) and the weight-based metric measurements common in Europe and much of the rest of the world (grams, kilograms). It was produced by a team working within a strict set of rules, a shared mental template for how a page should be constructed—the size of the illustrations, the style of the typography, the way the price was always presented. This is not mere decoration; it is information architecture made visible. More importantly, the act of writing triggers a process called "encoding," where the brain analyzes and decides what information is important enough to be stored in long-term memory. It shows us what has been tried, what has worked, and what has failed.
