The rise of new tools, particularly collaborative, vector-based interface design tools like Figma, has completely changed the game. The idea of "professional design" was, in my mind, simply doing that but getting paid for it. It is far more than a simple employee directory; it is a visual map of the entire enterprise, clearly delineating reporting structures, departmental functions, and individual roles and responsibilities. It typically begins with a phase of research and discovery, where the designer immerses themselves in the problem space, seeking to understand the context, the constraints, and, most importantly, the people involved. It is a testament to the fact that even in an age of infinite choice and algorithmic recommendation, the power of a strong, human-driven editorial vision is still immensely potent. The project forced me to move beyond the surface-level aesthetics and engage with the strategic thinking that underpins professional design.
